The purpose of this reflective article is to express gratitude to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) for the significant impact it has had on my personal and professional development. Specifically, I acknowledge the outstanding quality of education and professionalism of the professors and officers of the PNPA.
I wanted to look back at NORSU, an outstanding producer of criminologists in the region due to the knowledge of its professors and the professionalism of its criminology students. To that end, I paid a courtesy call to the dean of the CCJE and held an information drive for the students. I am thankful to the CCJE dean for granting me the opportunity to take my application in 2019.
During my courtesy call to the Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), I shared my personal motivations and strategies for overcoming obstacles during my cadetship training. I also expressed my deep appreciation for the support and guidance provided by the professors at NORSU, who are proud of my success in the PNPA.
Looking towards the future, I encourage future First Class Cadets undergoing the Cadet Attachment Program to return to their alma mater and share their insights about the PNPA with current criminology students. This will not only boost the morale of the students but also enhance the school's reputation, as it produced a soon-to-be graduate of the prestigious PNPA.
In conclusion, my experience at the PNPA has allowed my personal growth and has prepared me for a successful career as a police officer. My gratitude for the PNPA and NORSU highlights the important role that education and mentorship play in shaping the future leaders of the Philippines.

Eleventh Day: Sharing is Caring
The duty of a police officer is one that requires a constant commitment to public safety, regardless of the time of day. In the Philippines, the Philippine National Police operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure the safety and security of the community. As a cadet undergoing Cadet Attachment Program, I had the opportunity to participate in a night duty with the personnel of the Dumaguete City Police Station at a checkpoint in Barangay Bantayan, Dumaguete City. This experience allowed me to witness firsthand the commitment of police officers in preventing and reducing crime.
The checkpoint team, consisting of 8 members, diligently adhered to the regulations of the checkpoint operation, and apprehended vehicle drivers who violated traffic and security mandates. As a future police officer, I recognize that my profession requires me to be alert and responsive to situations that involve public safety at all times. I have observed the devotion of PNP personnel who remain awake and alert throughout the night until the next Duty Relief arrives to take over the post.
I have witnessed the unseen acts of service that police officers do for their community, and I have a deep admiration for their willingness to serve and protect. As a future police officer, I understand that my profession may require me to be away from home for extended periods. Nevertheless, I am committed to serving the community with the same devotion and commitment that the police officers of Dumaguete City Police Station display.
In addition to serving the community, police officers must also equip themselves with knowledge to address the needs of the community. This includes proficiency in the Police Operational Procedure and the laws under the Philippines Constitution. As a police officer, it is essential to be able to provide guidance and support to the public when needed.
To the future cadets who will undergo the Cadet Attachment Program, it is beneficial to start learning while inside the Academy. Professors and Lakans in the Academy are mandated to teach and are willing to help. Upperclassmen in the Academy are also proficient in various subject matters, offering a wide variety of knowledge to be gained from them. Developing these skills and knowledge through the Cadetship Training Program will prepare us to become competent police officers and leaders that the Academy can be proud of.
In conclusion, the experience of participating in night duty with the personnel of Dumaguete City Police Station has given me a deeper appreciation of the devotion and commitment that police officers display in serving and protecting the community. As a future police officer, I am committed to upholding the same level of devotion and commitment in fulfilling my duties and responsibilities to serve and protect the community.
The issue of congested areas due to illegally parked vehicles is a prevalent concern in many communities, and the recent road-clearing operation in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City serves as an exemplary response to this issue. As a responsible public servant, it is the duty of the police force to address the needs and concerns of the community, and this mission is a testament to this commitment.
Under the supervision of PLTCOL RONEOL G FUNGO, Chief of Police of DCPS, personnel of the Dumaguete City Police Station, together with the local Barangay Peace and Safety Officer, successfully carried out the road-clearing operation in response to the complaint received from the Barangay Captain. This demonstrates the importance of collaboration between the police and local officials in addressing community concerns.
The success of the operation is further highlighted by the positive feedback received from the community. The gratitude expressed by the people serves as a reminder of the crucial role of the police force in serving and protecting the community. It is through such actions that the trust and confidence of the people towards the police force are strengthened.
The immersion of future cadets in a certain Barangay, as long as proper security measures are taken, serves as an excellent training ground for future police officers. Through this experience, cadets can develop their critical thinking skills and tactics to effectively address the needs and concerns of the community. It is through such experiences that they can acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to become great leaders and officers that the Academy can be proud of.
In conclusion, the recent road-clearing operation in Barangay Calindagan serves as an excellent example of the police force's commitment to serving and protecting the community. Such operations demonstrate the importance of collaboration between the police force and local officials in addressing community concerns. The success of this mission serves as a reminder of the crucial role of the police force in maintaining peace and order in the community.
The role of a law enforcement officer extends beyond the boundaries of enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order in the community. It also encompasses spiritual and moral values that are essential in upholding the welfare of society.
In this regard, I had the opportunity to participate in a feast of a local chapel in Dumaguete City, particularly Barangay Manga, together with the personnel of the Dumaguete City Police Station, under the supervision of PLTCOL RONOEL G FUNGO. The police officers attended the Sunday Mass and took part in the procession, showcasing a strong police presence throughout the celebration.
This experience was significant for it helped me strengthen my spiritual self and faith in the Lord. As a devout Roman Catholic, I found meaning in practicing my faith and fulfilling my duty to the community. In this activity, I emphasized the importance of integrating one's spiritual beliefs with their work, highlighting that it is possible to harmonize work and family life. This demonstrates that work can be viewed as a calling rather than just a job, and it has the power to improve people's lives in various ways.
To approach one's work with integrity and a commitment to justice is one way of serving God as a law enforcement officer. As a recommendation, I suggest that incoming First class Cadets request a one-day off, preferably Sunday, to exercise their worship services to their respective religious denominations. This is an excellent opportunity for cadets to practice their faith while also fulfilling their duties as future law enforcement officers.
In conclusion, my experience attending a feast of a local chapel in Dumaguete City, together with the personnel of the Dumaguete City Police Station, highlighted the importance of integrating spiritual and moral values in the law enforcement profession. I recommend incoming First class Cadets to exercise their worship services as a testament to their commitment to upholding spiritual values while fulfilling their duties as future law enforcement officers.
